Concept: an anti-flash hood and a technical rescue helmet combined with a structural firefighting helmet into one modular system.
Visual identity: a biomimicry design inspired by the woodpecker's shock-absorbing anatomy.
The woodpecker's head structure, which absorbs impact, is reflected in the helmet's aerodynamic outer shell and impact-distributing fluid lines.
The same design language applied to the structural fire helmet and the anti-flash (technical rescue helmet).
Exploded view of the Crest helmet system, the areas that need protection, SCBA usage and technical properties.
Crest helmet, front three-quarter render.
Crest helmet, rear three-quarter render.
Crest system exploded: red outer shell above the black anti-flash base.

Crest is a modular firefighting helmet. It consists of two components: a fire resistant anti flash inner structure with comfort and impact pads, which can also function as a technical rescue helmet, and a red outer shell designed for structural firefighting that accommodates equipment such as a flashlight and a thermal camera. The design integrates the anti-flash hood and helmet, traditionally used separately within firefighters' head protection systems, into a single, unified system. The visual form of the helmet takes inspiration from the impact dissipating head structure of a woodpecker.
